Narrabeen FC
As a grassroots football club Narrabeen FC recognises that all players want to play football in a safe, fair and enjoyable environment. We also understand that players have very different reasons for playing – there is a very broad range of motivations that we have the responsibility of meeting to ensure that all players enjoy playing football; this ranges from those starting out on their football journey, those who want to play with their friends, to those who want to take it more seriously and play at the highest level possible.
OUR HISTORY
The Narrabeen Football Club is a section of the Narrabeen Youth Club. In 1965 Ted Blackwood and a few others formed the Narrabeen Youth Club (NYC). Bill Gooding was President in the first year and from 1966 until 2008 Ted maintained that role. Although now retired from “active” Club service Ted has officially accepted the position of Club Patron.
When the Club was first formed there was no official clubhouse. In 1975 NYC purchased a building owned by the Narrabeen RSL. The building was scheduled for demolition and sold to the Narrabeen Youth Club for $1. The building was cut into three pieces, moved and reassembled on it’s current location on the corner of Boondah and Jacksons Roads.
Ted and the committee members worked tirelessly to set up and keep the Boondah fields for the use of local sports people. Over the years the fields have been threatened by the Warriewood land release and development.
In 2008 Denis Hole took over as President with Michael Bosschieter as Vice President. Michael then took over as president in 2012.
During those years many children have enjoyed the various sports on offer in the Football (Soccer), Netball, Physical Culture, Cricket and Gymnastics.
Over the years interest in a broader sporting curriculum has wained, however Football and Netball continue to thrive, and registrations grown year on year. NYC currently has over 1100 registered players and volunteers.
Many of the current adult members and committee have passed through the junior sporting team ranks and now have children of their own playing with Narrabeen FC.
The Narrabeen Football Club has continues to grow year on year through healthy interest in grassroots football, womens football and senior football.
The committee of Narrabeen Youth Club are a dedicated and generous group of volunteers who have the best interests of the local community at heart.
