There’s only 1 week to kick off and we have some important reminders for you specifically around competition rules and how to use Dribl, a critical tool for every team in the competition.
Dribl and match sheet responsibilities – competition teams (U12+)
As well as being the app where you can find out your match information, for registered officials (Coach/Manager), Dribl is a critical tool for game day management.
For all U12 competitions and above, you must submit and confirm your teams match sheet prior to kick off, as well as review and confirm the oppositions match sheet. This must be completed each week for both the home and away team. Post match you also need to submit your score.
Not confirming this information puts your team at risk of losing competition points. You will receive violation reports from your coordinator if you have not updated match information into Dribl. They will also advise if you have received a warning or if you will be losing competition points (warnings are issued before this happens).
Dribl and match sheet responsibilities – non competition teams (U6-11)
Dribl is used to record your match outcome. While there is no official ladder, the MWFA uses match data to ensure a fair and equitable experience is had by all players. Goals are tracked to ensure there isn’t a consistent goal margin difference between teams, this is why in round 5 or 6, you will receive an updated draw.

Competition Rules
Understanding the rules makes us better players, game leaders and supporters.
Technical area (U12+)
This is a big change for the U12’s. The technical area is an space, usually opposite the spectators and either side of the halfway line for match officials (coach and referee) to manage the game. Substitutions will enter the field of play from the half way line between the home and away team technical areas (players leaving the field can exit at any part of the field). We actively discourage spectating from near the technical area so the referee, coaches and players can have clear and consistent communication. Players must wear bibs in the technical area. It’s also good practice for U11’s to start implementing an informal technical areal in preparation for the U12’s.
Remember, in the U12’s you must notify the referee when wanting a sub and wait for their direction.
Laws of the game update – Goalkeepers (U12+)
Goalkeeper ball control will now be timed to a strict 8-second limit, punishing infringements with a corner kick rather than an indirect free kick. Referees will use a visual, raised-hand countdown for the final 5 seconds to manage time-wasting and speed up play.
Wet Weather and Forfeit Process
An important change has been made to forfeit procedures to allow appropriate planning for teams, referees, the MWFA and to also prevent unfair tactics such as waiting to the last minute to forfeit to potentially gain advantage.
